Dance Studios for Filming & Content Creation in HK

By SpaceFinder HK·7 April 2026·4 min read

In the age of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube, dance studios double as content creation sets. Lighting, backdrops, camera angles, and acoustics all matter as much as floor space and mirrors. Whether you are filming a K-Pop cover, shooting a music video, or creating content for your dance school's social media, Hong Kong has studios purpose-built for production work — and many more that are production-capable with the right setup.

Purpose-Built Production Studios

Left Right Lab in Kwun Tong is the top choice for serious productions. Three rooms — Lab (1,800 sqft), Left (800 sqft), and Right (300 sqft) — with professional filming equipment, production-ready lighting, and a cargo lift for loading heavy gear. They list "commercial shooting" and "dance production" among their core services. Room Lab's size accommodates larger crews, lighting rigs, and multiple camera setups. Off-peak starts at $120/hr for Room Right, with overnight flat rates from $400.

IDOL Studio at Scramble Hill, Kwun Tong, is designed around the idol/MV aesthetic. Room A (1,060 sqft) has an anti-slip dance floor and LED stage lighting that creates a performance stage atmosphere. The dedicated makeup room with professional stations means talent can prep on-site. Add-on services include a photographer ($800/hr) and dance instructor ($500/hr). Free basic filming equipment is included with any booking.

Stage Lighting and Effects

Icon Plus Studio's Room S in Mong Kok is legendary for its 60 coloured stage lights, effect lights, and smoke machine — all in a 1,150 sqft room. For dance videos that need that concert-stage feel, this is hard to beat. Off-peak rates start at $200/hr with overnight at $800 flat. The smaller rooms also have adjustable lighting for less elaborate shoots.

Temple Dance Studio in Hung Hom has a professional filming and photography ceiling rig with 2 wireless microphones and a curtain backdrop. The 950 sqft space fits up to 40 people, making it suitable for group dance videos. Rates are $220-300/hr.

Aesthetic and Backdrop Studios

OuterSpace in Wan Chai is tailored for visual content. Full-floor 20th-floor studio with RGB photography lights, ceiling spotlights, and dual backdrop cloths (black and grey). The wooden floor and JBL sound create a clean aesthetic for dance videos. At $310/hr (owl $150/hr), it includes phone stand and refreshments.

CHOOM in Lai Chi Kok has two rooms designed for visual impact: the Grey Room features a grey curtain backdrop with pink LED accents, and the White Room has blue LED accents. Both are popular choices for dance cover videos. 0cm Studio in San Po Kong rents 3m backdrop paper and has 4-sided spotlights — useful for more controlled filming setups.

Budget Filming Options

You do not need a purpose-built production studio for good content. Many budget studios include filming basics. Kaffein Studio in Kwai Hing ($50/hr) includes a ring light, tripod, and mic. Training Time Studio ($60-65/hr) has multiple lighting modes for filming. Play Arena HK ($150-200/hr) offers 100+ lighting modes and includes filming equipment. Bookfordance ($60-65/hr) comes with a Samsung pad dock and warm spotlights.

Production Checklist

Before booking a studio for filming, verify: Can the lighting be dimmed or colour-changed? (Critical for atmosphere.) Are there enough power outlets for lights and equipment? Is the sound system Bluetooth or AUX-compatible for playback? Are tripods or phone stands available, or do you need to bring your own? Is there a changing area for outfit changes? And crucially — is commercial filming charged at a different rate? Some studios distinguish between practice and commercial shooting prices. Check the listing or ask via WhatsApp before you book.
