Dance Studios in Lai Chi Kok

By SpaceFinder HK·7 April 2026·3 min read

Lai Chi Kok deserves its own spotlight even though it falls within the Sham Shui Po district. The concentration of dance studios around Lai Chi Kok MTR is remarkable — you can find 8-9 venues within a 6-minute walk of the station, many of them in the same industrial buildings along Castle Peak Road. This makes it one of the densest studio clusters outside of Kwun Tong and San Po Kong.

What Makes Lai Chi Kok Special

Three factors set this area apart. First, the aerial and yoga focus: Studio Acorn A has 8 pre-installed aerial hammocks, and Studio Acorn B&C also carries aerial and ground yoga equipment. JFF Studio provides free yoga mats, blocks, wheels, ropes, and straps with a Denon sound system. No other district has this depth of yoga-focused dance spaces.

Second, the aesthetic variety. CHOOM has its Grey Room with pink LED accents and White Room with blue LED — both highly Instagrammable. Play Arena HK features 100+ lighting modes and blue LED accent lighting. Studio Diva offers soundproofed rooms with decorative design. Each has a distinct visual identity that makes the area popular for dance video filming.

Third, the price range. From Solar Studio 24's $40/hr overnight rate to SWAY Studio's 5,000 sqft multi-room complex, there is something for every budget.

The SWAY-Element Axis

SWAY Studio and Element Spotlight are the two largest operations. SWAY offers 5 room configurations (including a ballet barre studio and purple mood lighting room) with shower facilities. Element Spotlight has 8 studios across two blocks with midnight packages and 40% off happy hours. Between them, they represent over 10,000 sqft of dance space within a few minutes of each other.

Wing Kut Industrial Building — Studio Central

Wing Kit (Kut) Industrial Building Block B at 608 Castle Peak Road is a mini dance village. Both CHOOM (Room 305, 3/F) and Play Arena HK (Room 405, 4/F) operate from this address. If one is booked, you can literally take the lift one floor to check the other. Both are near Lai Chi Kok MTR Exit B1.

Getting There and Around

Lai Chi Kok MTR has multiple useful exits: Exit B1 for Wing Kut Building and Castle Peak Road studios, Exit C for Training Time-adjacent venues, and Exit D for Studio Acorn BC. The flat terrain makes walking between studios easy. If you are studio-hopping to compare options, you can realistically visit 3-4 venues in a single afternoon.
